The KB Show rolls through Indianapolis as Kyle Busch grabs elusive Brickyard

“We’re a championship contending team, but we just have to be championship eligible”, he said. “Everybody is going to be chasing the rainbow tonight, that’s for sure”.

“These cars are sealed up so tight, that’s the way they run the fastest, and it makes the interior of the cars really hot”, Stevens said. It was his third straight trip to Victory Lane and fourth in the last NASCAR Sprint Cup races.

Daytona 500 victor Joey Logano finished second in a Ford.

His victory at Indianapolis in the Brickyard 400 Sunday – overtaking Kevin Harvick in the closing laps – simply fuels the legend of man and machine.

“We adapted very well to the change, ” Wilson said. But he continues to allude to Busch’s season as a great sports story with each new victory an added chapter. “I think the extended bumper cover on the back of these things doesn’t let the airflow underneath the vehicle like it used to without it, and I think it builds the inside temperature up”.

“I just want to celebrate with my team, my wife and my family”.

On lap 50 (of 164, an extra four for a green-white-checkered finish), Gordon got caught in a tough position, spun high on the track before touching into the wall.

Having struggled with relatively less horsepower during the 2014 season from engines built by Toyota Racing Development, JGR did what all teams do in such circumstances – worked extra hard on the handling. As the green flag waved, he pulled out to lead the first several laps of the race. When he returned, on May 24, he had missed the first 11 Sprint Cup races. Then, I have to thank Martin Truex Jr. The three-time NASCAR champion had to get off the gas in the final turn and wound up fourth.

Harvick finished third and remains atop the point standings.

Red Bull took advantage of late chaos as Russian driver Daniil Kvyat placed second and Daniel Ricciardo, who clipped Rosberg with five laps to go, took third. Physically. And see him bounce back and do what he’s done. Busch spent only about 60 laps inside the top 10, but he was there when it counted. But when he finally hit pit road, Harvick cycled to the lead.

Prior to the season the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook had Busch at 10-to-1 odds to win the Sprint Cup.

During his NASCAR career, Jeff Gordon owed much of his net worth value to his salary as a race auto driver, prize money and endorsements, The Richest noted.

“Right now I’m not thinking about this being my last Brickyard 400“, Gordon said post-race. I’ve got sweat in my eyes.

“Today was not the way we would have liked it to end, but that’s the reality, and we just deal with it and move on. Everything has been incredible and I feel so fortunate to have just gotten an opportunity to race here”.

Busch is the first driver to win three straight Sprint Cup races since Jimmie Johnson in 2007. Unlike the Indianapolis 500, which is typically a breathtaking race with dramatic passes, the heavier stock cars have never been a good fit at the Brickyard and the NASCAR race has rarely been among the best of the season.

It doesn’t rank with stretches like Jeff Gordon’s seven wins in nine races in 1998 or Tony Stewart’s five Chase wins in 2011. His other wins came at Sonoma, Kentucky, and New Hampshire. Drivers must be in the top 30 of points to make the Chase and Busch is now 23 points out with five races to go before the Chase.
