Buckeyes go back to back in NFL

On Thursday, the Chargers selected Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa with the third pick overall.

The second day of the draft saw the New Orleans Saints pick up a pair of Buckeyes with Michael Thomas being able to step in and fill the shoes of Marques Colston. However, with the Chargers employing a 3-4 alignment, Bosa could be making a move to outside linebacker – as did Melvin Ingram, a college defensive lineman who was San Diego’s first-round pick in 2012.

The only other program in history to produce five players drafted in the top 20 was Miami in 2004.

Jared Goff was the first pick of the NFL Draft and Roger Goodell was booed.

A tackling machine: Perry finished with over 100 tackles in his last two seasons at Ohio State and totaled 7.5 career sacks.

Elliott is the highest Dallas has drafted a running back since taking Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett second overall in 1977. From St. Louis and John Burrought H.S., Elliott was coached by Tony Alford this past season and current Bears assistant Stan Drayton in 2013-14.

Derek Watt was a four-year starter with the Badgers. Though, speculation has also suggested that the Bears could select a quarterback on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Due to the level of success he had as a junior, Bosa entered his final year at Ohio State with a large target on his back. Perry also was voted co-captain of Ohio State’s defense his senior year and earned first-team, All-Big Ten honors in 2015, so he also brings leadership qualities to San Diego’s defense. What is remarkable is he came to Ohio State as a 205-pound “athlete” who founded a home at linebacker under the tutelage of Luke Fickell and just 28 starts later he is in the NFL. Defensive tackle Adolphus Washington preceded Miller at No. 80 to the Buffalo Bills, and tight end Nick Vannett was the last to go Friday at 94th overall to the Seattle Seahawks. He’s a bit of a “tweener”, not quite a 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB. “He’s very tough. Urban Meyer spoke very, very highly of him”.
