Trump wins over West Virginia

“They want real change”, Sanders said.

Trump frequently refers to Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton as “crooked Hillary”.

“The choice in this campaign could not be clearer”, Clinton said during her 30-minute speech at Camden County College.

The 29 delegates offered by West Virginia are awarded on a proportional basis, so Sanders only made a small net gain.

Sanders insisted on Tuesday that he could still win a majority of pledged delegates – a goal that remains mathematically possible if unlikely. Clinton needed just 34 percent.

“It looks like Clinton is on target to corral the delegates she needs for the nomination”. Sanders is the only candidate who had more respondents say they had a “favorable opinion” of him than respondents saying they had a “unfavorable opinion”. She wins black voters 86 percent to 9 percent – a 77-point gap.

Clinton may be seen as a candidate who is interested in continuing Obama’s policies. More than half of voters said that trade with other countries takes away U.S.jobs, while 36 percent of voters said it creates jobs.

Should she lose the contest there, it will be her third straight loss.

The Democratic race in West Virginia was shaped by Clinton’s comment at a town hall in OH in March that “we are going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business”. If Clinton wins here she should be out of reach for Sanders.

“I’m looking forward to debating Donald Trump come the fall,”she told a crowd while campaigning in Kentucky earlier Tuesday”.

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton campaigned in South Jersey on Tuesday, telling hundreds of supporters at a rally that “we’re better than the campaign of the presumptive Republican nominee”.

“We’re not going to have a situation, in my view, where we have a Republican speaker that presides over a convention and doesn’t support the nominee”, said Cole.

With 1,071 delegates, Trump has 87 percent of the delegates needed to win the Republican nomination for president.

By winning West Virginia, Mr Sanders will shave a tiny bit off Mrs Clinton’s delegate lead, but the victory will mainly serve to keep his support alive and convince people that his rival can’t seal the nomination.

The Trump campaign says it has begun shifting toward a general election strategy and “implementing an infrastructure capable of securing a victory, including making key hires, building a finance operation to benefit the Republican Party and unifying the party”. “Clinton also wins Hispanics 61 percent to 28 percent….Trump wins the white vote 52 percent to 41 percent….There is also a significant gender gap this election cycle, with Clinton beating Trump by 19 points among women, while Trump carries men by an 11 percent margin”.
