CBS Cancels Drama Series
Fans of the CBS procedural mega-franchise CSI, prepare yourselves. The series, starring then-newly minted Oscar victor Patricia Arquette, launched in midseason 2015 in the Wednesday time slot where the mothership series had spent three seasons before relocating to Sunday for its final run. But despite the cache of being a CSI spin-off, CSI: Cyber never managed to find its footing with fans. The first season garnered only mixed reviews, and only received a 35 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with the average rating per critic being 5.1 out of 10 possible points.

Will you miss CSI: Cyber? It brings an end to the storied franchise whose flagship series was once the most-watched show in the world.
The four “CSI” shows produced 795 episodes over a collective 36 seasons and played a big part in CBS’ success over the past 15 years. Unfortunately, the addition of a member of the CSI cast didnt do anything to bolster the ratings. By comparison, the NCIS franchise for CBS is now at around 520 episodes, with all three shows renewed for next season.

The show wasn’t doing very well for CBS. Star Ted Danson, who joined the veteran drama in its later years, moved over to “Cyber” for season two, though he had already planned on leaving the series following its sophomore outing, and will star in the NBC comedy pilot “The Good Place”.
