WhatsApp introduces desktop app for Windows and Mac
We’re introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere – whether on your phone or computer at home or work. A desktop version is set to appear for both Mac and Windows, following an earlier web beta version. Despite being the instant messaging app with the biggest user base, WhatsApp has been available in the form of application for only cellular devices till now although, in 2015, they had introduced WhatsApp Web, a website that let the users access the platform from desktops. It is compatible with all the computing devices that are running on at least Windows 8 or Mac OS 10.9. Users can then sync the desktop version with their mobile apps by scanning QR codes with their phones. Facebook Messenger has in the recent past launched an app for Windows 10 OS devices along with the existing web version.

Also, while the desktop app is being termed as “nearly” identical to the web versions, a native app can still be considered way ahead of its web counterpart on account of the deeper integration that the former enjoys over the latter.
There have been a slew of desktop apps in the past that have acted as wrappers for the browser plugins, however this is the first time WhatsApp is giving its own native desktop solution, reports Forbes.
For instance, there are keyboard combinations such as Ctrl + Shift + M that mutes a conversation while Ctrl + Shift + U can invoke changes in the read status of a message.
WhatsApp had initially started with a mobile app for Android and iOS.
Red Bull Alert Alarm clockIt is the world’s first alarm clock app that gives you the motivation to get up faster and make the most of your day as you could never oversleep or snooze again. South Africa’s two largest telecoms, Vodacom and MTN, were pushing to make over the top services regulated.
Internet Radio – PlayTimeThis app re-creates the experience of online radio by providing the user a new way of discovering new music, artists, shows, and radio stations. That includes the ability to send messages, pictures, and documents, or recording voice messages. Once this step is done, all users’ chats will load.

However, while all of the above might come across as a positive development for WhatsApp loyalists, there are enough reasons for the others in the fray to be anxious about.
