CHELSEA – Hiddink praises Blues youngster Tammy Abraham

While calls for the “yoof” might seem overwhelming at times, debuts like Abraham’s should maintain at least the theoretical possibility that these kids will have a fair chance of making it into the Chelsea first-team in the near future. It is the same as Ashley Cole and Lampard – I don’t neglect the facts.

The former Netherlands manager hinted that Terry could go into management after retiring.

“Those players, and I have experienced it in the past with Gullit, Rijkaard and Koeman, start thinking about what they should do next”.

However, Hiddink admits the decision over Terry’s future does not rest with him as new head coach Antonio Conte is set to arrive in the summer.

“Whether it would’ve been the last game that’s not up to me”, said Hiddink, whose second caretaker spell ends after Sunday’s match with Leicester.

The Chelsea skipper has been at the club since the age of 14. Beyond that, Hiddink – who also departs this month – insists he has no say. I won’t give judgement because I have to work with them now.

He was banned for the 2012 Champions League final win over Bayern Munich, but joined the celebrations in his full kit, a protocol dictated by UEFA.

If John Terry really has booked Stamford Bridge for a private party, as reports suggested on Friday, then everything might have a rather sour taste.

Despite not being available for selection at Anfield or against Leicester, Terry has been training this week. Of course, when you come on the pitch for training after being sent off it’s not the most attractive face.

The goal was Hazard’s fourth in as many Premier League matches towards the end of a campaign that has been a major disappointment for both the player and his club.

Hiddink won the FA Cup and lost one league game during his first interim spell in 2009 and the second has been less successful following his December arrival in place of the sacked Jose Mourinho. “That’s up to them”, he said.
