Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

On Saturday, May 14, letter carriers will pick up bags filled with food that are left next to mailboxes. “These local food banks are always in need of supplies and the national association of letter carriers is happy to help out”, says Tom Teeter, Local Food Driver Coordinator. This annual collection, the largest one-day food collection event in the nation, has made a difference to those in our community and across the country who are struggling to make ends meet. Food banks and pantries receive the bulk of their donations in the fall and winter.

People who have post office boxes may also participate by bringing food directly to their nearest post office.

Your letter carrier takes care of the rest.

Led by letter carriers represented by the National Association of Letter Carriers, with help from rural letter carriers, other postal employees and other volunteers, the drive has delivered more than one billion pounds of food the past 24 years, according to a press release. Almost 1,500 NALC branches in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands are involved.
