Marin reports first case of Zika virus infection
In Connecticut, 252 patients, including 221 pregnant women, have been tested for Zika virus, the health department said.

“You can make the quake not happen”, he said.
Recently, Zika was found in Asian tiger (Aedes albopictus) mosquitoes, a species with a farther reach north than is typical for the Aedes aegypti mosquito the virus is found in. Scott said state officials were also requesting resources to help mosquito control districts enhance mosquito surveillance, abatement, training for mosquito control technicians and laboratory capacity.
All those cases have been linked to travel to Zika-affected regions overseas, such as outbreak-stricken countries in Central and South America, according to the state Department of Health.
The cases announced this week bring the total number of CT residents infected by the mosquito-borne virus to six, the Department of Public Health said.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that about one in five people with the virus become ill, lasting several days to a week.
Rubio cited new research indicating that in addition to microcephaly, a condition in which a newborn’s head is abnormally small, Zika might cause brain damage in infants.
“However, the differences between mouse and human development mean that larger experimental animals that are more similar to humans – such as monkeys – must also be tested”. “They travel to this country extensively”. They include fever, rash, pain in the joints and pink eye.
“Zika is not a newly discovered virus, but its breakout in 2015 attracted more attention than ever before because more than 6,000 babies born in Brazil from March 2015 to March 2016 were diagnosed with microcephaly”.
A Democratic proposal for $1.9 billion in emergency funds, which President Barack Obama requested in February, is one plan that could come up for a vote as early as next week. The New York Times reported that “as many as four million people could be infected by the end of the year”, and that number is going up. That’s why CDC wants all returning travelers to take steps to avoid mosquito bites for three weeks after they return home – by using insect repellent, covering up, or staying indoors.

“As representatives from the state of Florida, we understand the real threat that Zika poses to our families and neighbors”, Curbelo, a first-term congressman from Miami, said after meeting with Scott.
