EA unconcerned about releasing Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 this autumn

Of course, we already know that Battlefield 1 is due in October. The reaction to the debut of Infinity Ward‘s latest entry into the top-selling shooter was largely negative with many outlets using a record number of YouTube dislikes to the debut trailer as a barometer. In terms of futuristic shooters, Infinite Warfare could go head to head against Titanfall 2. The mech-infused game is scheduled to land during fiscal Q3 according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, which means that it should blast onto B&M and digital store shelves somewhere between October and the end of December (barring any last-minute hiccups). He is also proud to say that the hype surrounding “Battlefield 1” is also apparent in the “Titanfall 2”, which is why they are excited to disclose more details on the upcoming EA Play.

Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 will not be competing for the same audience, and EA believes the two shooters won’t cannibalise the sales of one another.

“The games both scratch different itches”, he said. “[Shooters are] a giant category in our industry, $4.5 billion, there’s a very broad and diverse set of players who are looking to fulfil different gameplay motivations”, he said (via Seeking Alpha).

Titanfall received a Metascore of 86 and in Xbox One’s first year, there was perhaps no better exclusive to get other than that. But what I’m saying is those types of absolutely AAA, big productions is what we want to do. Nothing has been shown of the game so far beyond a brief teaser trailer, previously covered by Inquisitr.

EA Play will be taking the place of an actual EA booth at E3, and in addition to a number of other games (including three different sports titles), Titanfall 2 will also be making an appearance. Respawn Entertainment and EA have both learned a lot from the mistakes committed with the first game. It appears Titanfall 2 will be out sometime later this year.
