According to multiple reports, the Jays have landed Tigers ace David Price in exchange for a package built around top pitching prospect Daniel Norris.

Former Oregon State pitcher Matt Boyd is changing organizations after he was involved in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd and Jairo Labourt each pitched for the Lugnuts in the last couple seasons.
At the moment, the Jays are 51-51 – sitting six games behind the Yankees for first place in the American League East and two games behind the Minnesota Twins for the second American League Wild Card spot.
Price is in the midst of another fine season. He’s recorded 138 strikeouts in 146 innings and has held opposing hitters to a. 241 batting average. The Tigers, who are not having a good season, are 49-52 and 12.5 games back from the Kansas City Royals. In five starts this season with the Blue Jays, Norris is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA. Superstar in the making third baseman Josh Donaldson still has two years of arbitration left before he hits free agency, but will likely get $10 million in arbitration next year. The Blue Jays will pay the rest of Price’s salary. While Tulowitzki is signed to a long-term deal, Price is a rental player who will command a hefty salary this off-season.
Labourt, 21, has a 4.59 ERA in five low-level minor league seasons. With that addition, the Blue Jays are now legitimate contenders.
For the second straight year, ace left-hander David Price in on the move near the Major League Baseball trade deadline.
The Dodgers, who also added relievers Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan, outfielder Michael Morse and infield prospect Jose Peraza, sent promising Cuban infielder Hector Olivera, reliever Paco Rodriguez and pitching prospect Zach Bird to Atlanta.
The Toronto Blue Jays have done it again.

There’s still no guarantee Price will head North to Toronto, due to the fact that many teams have expressed interest in the star pitcher, but the move would help strengthen a struggling Toronto bullpen. The good news is, Toronto has made the most of the trade game before the deadline and are suddenly masters of their own destiny. Another move or two could be coming, but this fills the Blue Jays’ biggest need.
