“I like his immigration policy”, Pickens said about Trump at SALT.
Pickens said he spoke to Trump by phone earlier this week and plans to donate to his campaign.
Pickens, who is the chief executive officer of BP Capital, said at a hedge fund conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday that he agrees with Trump that Muslims should be banned from entering the United States while they are vetted.
T. Boone Pickens visits FOX Business Network’s “Wall Street Week” at FOX Studios on April 27, 2016 in New York City.
“We have plenty of people here”, the oil billionaire said.
Some worry that Trump’s harsh stance on Muslims entering the US could eventually backfire.
Trump has backed down from that policy, calling it just a “suggestion” in a Wednesday Fox News Radio interview.
“We’ve turned our presidential selection process into a reality TV show”, Pickens lamented in that post in 2015.
“I’m ready to take a chance on it”, said Pickens, who turns 88 later this month.
But Pickens, a billionaire who previously supported GOP candidates Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina, said he likes that Trump is not a typical White House contender.

And should a Trump presidency not work out, Mr. Pickens said he isn’t overly concerned.
