Combine your arsenal of futuristic and iconic guns, upgrades, movement and an advanced melee system to knock-down, slash, stomp, crush, and blow apart demons in creative and violent ways.

DOOM was developed at id Software®, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre. “But there’s more to DOOM than just running and gunning”, the video blurb explains.

You can modify your guns, turning the up-close-and-personal shotgun into a mid-range weapon with an alternate fire mode. Want to focus on speed for your character to run around enemies while you blast them in the face? Get the upgrade that allows you to perform executions faster. To defend it, you’ll need to utilize every type of character and weapon you’ve ever imagined – from cyborg hawkmen to samurai vampires to mini-gun wielding man-mountains.

And if you’re hoping for a return to the “you versus a million demons” combat of the original games, id thinks it has that covered, too. “Especially in the arenas: They’re very challenging in the best possible way”. DOOM will be blasting demons into twitching chunks of gristle from Friday 13th May on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. However, Bethesda has opted to not offer review copies until the game’s official launch, which the publisher says is due to the multiplayer servers not yet being live.
