Game from Doom co-creators already pulled from Kickstarter
John Romero has cancelled the Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming FPS Blackroom just days after its launch, with the intention of launching another campaign once a demo of the game is ready to show.

Developer Night Work Games said the team will relaunch the campaign down the road, but that creating a demo now would take more time than was left for the Kickstarter. The developers cite player feedback in their decision to pause their campaign. A demo is already in the works, but isn’t due to be finished before the Kickstarter campaign ends.
So far Blackroom has raised $131,000 and that money will likely be forfeit as the Kickstarter is technically cancelled.
It’s actually quite refreshing to see Romero and Carmack pause the entire campaign so they can better illustrate what Blackroom is all about.
BLACKROOM is scheduled to release on PC in winter 2018.
Night Work Games, the studio set up by Romero and Carmack to make the game, says the gameplay demo will take more time to develop than the remaining days of the Kickstarter. Let us know in the comments.
The page described the game as “a visceral, varied and violent shooter that harkens back to classic FPS play”. We believe, however, it is the right choice. Romero claims they will launch the campaign again after they create a gameplay demo. Meanwhile, the Kickstarter came with some early concept art but other than that, it was Romero and Carmack who explained what it was all about.

The team thanked the backers and the people who had already donated to the campaign while telling them that they will be achieved with honor backer prices for the next campaign.
