Trudeau praises first responders in Fort McMurray
“If someone is coming to your door and you’re not sure and they’ve asked for cash, you can always call our office and we’ll double check because most people have had to register with us to say that they are collecting”, Fuchs said.

The prime minister lauded the work of emergency responders as “amazing”, saying that Canadians don’t necessarily understand the scope of what happened as a result of the fires that claimed 2,400 buildings and displaced more than 80,000 people.
“For many years, Fort McMurray contributed huge amounts to Canada’s well-being, to the growth of our economy”, he said.
Ottawa provided military equipment to fight the fire, and Trudeau has also formed a special cabinet committee to coordinate the federal government’s part in reconstruction efforts in the Fort McMurray area.
150 RCMP tactical troop and traffic service officers from throughout the province have also been temporarily redeployed to northern Alberta by the federal government. He initially stressed he did not want his visit to interfere with firefighting efforts.
The flight took Trudeau over a several of the neighborhoods ravaged by the fire – while some structures are still standing, many have been burned to the ground.
“Right now the residents aren’t there, but there are hundreds and hundreds of emergency workers”.
“I heard there were situations and peculiarities in this fire that give us pause for reflection on how we move forward”, Trudeau said to Allen.
“The one thing that I realized is, unlike so many images we see around the world, that little plastic scooter – whatever little boy or girl was using that just before the evacuation, they’re safe”.
Trudeau was shocked after an aerial tour. “They’re alive”, he said.
“It’s very hard for me as an Albertan” to witness the damage, said Hehr, who represents a Calgary district.
Happening this Monday at the Massey Theatre in New Westminster, proceeds from the family friendly event will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

That is in addition to the 1,250 Canadian dollars (£672) per adult and 500 Canadian dollars (£269) per dependent from the government.
