Two arrested after man dies in accident at Chennai amusement park

Twenty-eight workers at the park had been invited to try out a new ride called the Disco Dancer – like a “tea cup” ride that moves side to side on a curved track – on Thursday night.

One person was killed and 10 others were injured after a newly-installed joyride broke during trial run at an amusement park in Tambaram on Wednesday (May 11).

Apparently, the amusement park management pressurized the employees to go on the ride despite them expressing hesitation.

A nine-year-old NRI girl died after falling into an automated swimming pool at the same park in 2013. “His hand is broken and has minor injured in his face and legs”. The Kancheepuram police has arrested twof Kishkinta theme park Jose Punnoose, 58, and HR manager D Shakthi Velan, 43. Police is investigating the cause of the mishap.

The victim, identified as Mani, was declared brought dead at a hospital.

As per reports, last evening’s ride was meant to be a trial run.

The ride had suffered damage during the Chennai floods previous year.

Josh Punnish, the owner of the park, and a manager were arrested.

The nine people, who were injured during the ride are being treated for their injuries.

Police said the incident occurred after the park was closed for the day.
