The jackpot is the sixth largest in US history, and the largest in New Jersey to ever come from a single ticket. “This is the first time we’ve sold a ticket worth this much”.

“We had a divine intervention give us the numbers, that’s the only way you could explain it”, Arthur said. “Certainly though, we will be anxiously awaiting the phone call”. That was way down from the 3,011,354 winners in last Saturday’s drawing.

The eight winners purchased two $2 tickets for drawings held on Wednesday, May 4, and Saturday, May 7, and paid $1 extra on each ticket for the “Power Play” option that multiplies the winnings.

Balbir Atwal, the owner of the Chino Hills 7-Eleven that sold California’s winning ticket, said the experience has been “life changing”.

“We will all [keep] working”, Arthur said.

When asked about lavish trips or major purchases, the family said that after buying cars for their kids and grandkids, they wanted to use the money to help their communities. She said it’s been a struggle to get funding.

The winning numbers for the Saturday, May 7 drawing were: 05, 25, 26, 44, 66. In total, it cost the family $6 to win $429.6 million.

The Lottery’s publicity push seeking the ticket-holder ended after a few weeks, Traverso said.

According to a report from NBC News, the winner’s eldest daughter, Valerie Arthur, said the winning numbers came to them “in a dream”.

“Stop April Fooling me”, Valeria Arthur said when her sister told her the good news..

Valerie, Marcia, Steven, Jacqueline, Tracy, Kathy, Renee and their mother, Pearlie, revealed themselves as the 8 winners of the Powerball jackpot on Thursday.

‘I just want you to know that anything can happen in New Jersey, ‘ she added.

Saturday’s jackpot is the largest amount awarded since a record $1.6 billion payout in January that prompted some to wait in hourslong lines outside lottery retailers.
