‘Four Dead’ After Jet Crashes Into auto Auction

Four people were feared dead after a private jet crashed today at a vehicle auction site while trying to land at an airport in Hampshire.

Emergency services were dealing with a major blaze at the auction site, held next to Blackbushe Airport in Yateley.

Daphne Knowles told GetHampshire she heard an aircraft “coming very very fast” behind her before the crash.

Acting chief inspector Olga Venner, of Hampshire police, said: “We can confirm that there were four people on board, including the pilot”.

Robert Belcher, a local aviation enthusiast, said he was driving home when he saw black smoke billowing from the site.

The light aircraft, a Phenom 300 Jet, crashed during an attempt to land at Blackbushe Airport.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called just after 3 p.m. (1400GMT) Friday to Blackbushe Airport, an airfield used by private planes and executive jets about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southwest of London.

Sky News reports that a number of ambulances re at the scene including an air ambulance.

Four pumps and three other appliances are at the scene.

The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch said it was aware and making inquiries.
