“Sheriff’s Coroners Office will lead investigation to determine exact cause & manner of Afeni Shakur’s death”. According to the New York Daily News, in 1969 Davis and several other members of the Black Panthers were imprisoned in New York for a conspiracy to “bomb multiple, busy city landmarks”.
A regular voice in the world of hip hop when it came to documentaries and magazine articles about her son, Shakur also co-produced the 2014 Broadway jukebox musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, which featured much of Tupac’s music.
After Tupac was shot numerous times in a drive-by shooting while he was leaving a 1996 boxing event in Las Vegas. After two years, judges acquitted her on all chargers.

Tupac’s famous song about his mother, “Dear Mama”, was released in 1995, and would go on to be added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
Afeni Shakur has died.
Afeni Shakur was born in 1947 with the birth name Alice Williams. She also founded Amaru Entertainment, the holding company for all of Tupac’s unreleased material.
At the time of her death, Afeni was in the middle of divorce proceedings from husband Gust Davis – who she married eight years after Tupac’s death. Back in March, Davis filed legal documents asking a North Carolina judge to prevent Davis from receiving alimony from her son’s estate, which reportedly generates around $900,000 a year. “This is justice for me”, she said in 2005.
Shakur has been upholding Tupac’s legacy since his death.
