JJ Abrams Broke His Back Filming ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
“Meanwhile, Abrams” back brace was pretty delightful. He wants to talk about “Star Wars“.

There was a flurry of concern after the door to the Millennium Falcon fell on Harrison Ford, breaking his ankle.
“The guy is like a real life superhero”, Abrams said. He’s a super human being.
Comparing himself to Ford, Abrams said that their differences were best exemplified by the incident that sidelined Ford for eight weeks during the filming of “Force Awakens“. Yet Abrams, not afraid to roll up his sleeves and pitch in to the manual labor-intensive effort of lifting the downed door, ended up providing substantive proof to the saying, “no good deed goes unpunished” when he felt an ominous pop in his back.
The doctor informed Abrams that he had broken his L4 in his spine.

Abrams, in keeping with his top-secret approach to movies and TV shows he works on, didn’t tell anyone about his own injury, he told Stewart, revealing he wore a back brace under his clothes. And he’s like, ‘Hey J.J.!’ And I’m like, ‘Hi, Harrison Ford.’ Ooh, it hurts to talk that way. For instance, here’s what we learned Thursday night on The Daily Show: Abrams (who’s directing and producing Star Wars) broke his dang back on a shoot. As Yahoo News reports, the contrast led the director to joke about the on-set situation, highlighting the differences between the two. During this time, a completely healed Ford was able to run over to Abrams on set, while the director felt pain just by talking to him. Thankfully, he can at least hold his head high that it didnt stop him from completing The Force Awakens, as it readies it highly-anticipated release on December 18.
