The bird has been roaming U-of-M’s north campus this month, chasing students as they walk, and getting in the way of buses.

“You know you live on North Campus when a turkey gets into your dorm… resulting in the place smelling bad”, student Samantha Sims tweeted in April.

The school’s deputy police chief Melissa Overton says: “He hasn’t hurt anybody, but he’s a very aggressive bird”, as well as a traffic hazard.

Officials have warned people not to approach it, and to instead alert the campus’ Division of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131.

“When we first heard about it we contacted the DNR [Department of Natural Resources] and their original response was they would not remove the turkey and relocate it unless it was causing damage to the buildings”, Overton told the paper.

She suspected the turkey had moved to a more wooded area of campus, but also believed people could be feeding it.
