Google’s new iOS keyboard combines the features of different texting apps into one platform. The goal is to reduce app switching by allowing users to use Google search at any time directly from the keyboard itself.
As the informative gif explains, results appear as cards with the key information front and center, such as the phone number, ratings and hours. Users can also search for GIFs in the same way.
Gboard also supports “Glide Typing”, a feature that lets users slide their finger from key to key to type words. Google seems to have bundled numerous search features that are already available in Android, and given access to iPhone users.
The Gboard keyboard app is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store. The actual full description of the app is “Gboard – Search”.
Tip: If you don’t want emoji’s showing up as text predictions, you can turn it off in Gboard’s Settings.
It is also easier to use swipe-based typing on the Android app. In addition, some new gestures were added to Google Keyboard. Find the restaurant. Copy the address.
If you’re anxious about sending the very words you type out to Google, the Mountain View company says other than your searches, Gboard doesn’t send anything you type to Google.
Privacy We know the things you type on your phone are personal, so we’ve designed Gboard to keep your private information private.
A couple of months after a rumor claimed that Google was working on a keyboard for iOS, that rumor has become reality.

As can be seen in the video below, the “G” shortcut in the keyboard symbolizes the Google search. Gboard will work on top of any other iOS app. If it’s a place you’re familiar with, you can search directly and send all of the relevant information to a friend who has never visited before.
