Texas feud simmering since playoffs erupts in brawl

Despite Bautista’s playoff theatrics, Bill Baer of NBC Sports’ Hardball Talk said the first matchup between these two teams this season “was completed without incident”.

It was Bautista who hit a long home run and then did this unforgettable bat flip in game 5 of the 2015 ALDS against the Rangers.

Bautista was hit in the ribs on the first pitch of his final at-bat in the eighth inning.

They expressed those rights Sunday, and you know something – save for one devastating right cross, there was absolutely nothing wrong about it.

After the ugly scene was over, Bautista fired back at the Rangers. Stubbs’ homer came with two outs.

“It’s tough sometimes to tie on the road”. “But we battled, like we always do”. The Blue Jays happily traded a run for a double play ball hit by Ryan Rua, but the Rangers persisted.

“They’re going to say, one-run game, the ball got away”. After hitting the home run, he flipped the bat, something which fuelled months of outrage. “I was getting a little frustrated fouling off some pitches that were decent pitches to hit”. “Pretty surprised and that’s the only reason he got me”.

Michael Saunders singled twice and has reached base in 14 consecutive games.

Williams Perez tries to keep up an impressive run by Atlanta’s rotation of late – Braves starters have a 2.85 ERA over the past 14 games. Texas is just 3-11 in its last 14 home games versus Toronto.

Bautista had been the hero to that point, driving a bases-clearing double to the gap in the sixth inning to give the Jays a 5-2 lead. The call was upheld.

Bautista, who was kept out of most of the melee by a bear hug from Texas veteran Adrian Beltre, was ejected as a result of the brawl.

“It’s unfortunate that we blew the game”, Gibbons said. “He’s been huge for this organization”. According to ESPN, eight players were ejected.

“And I think it probably is a good thing for the game”. The Blue Jays have also won five of six versus a team with a winning record and are now 26-10 in their last 36 contests versus American League West opponents.

Rangers: RF Shin-Soo Choo (calf strain) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday at Albuquerque. Shawn Tolleson blew his third save in the ninth.

Cesar Ramos didn’t make it out of the fifth inning, going only 4.1 innings. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
