After surrendering, Harrison, “immediately started working with local investigators to locate his son Dereck”, Sublette County Sheriff’s Sgt. Katherine Peterson said.

Police were looking for DJ Harrison and his father Flint Harrison after the pair allegedly assaulted and kidnapped a mother and her four children. After refusing to return to Utah after a conversation with her parole officer, the woman was arrested.

Officials say that the senior culprit in the case had turned himself in and was assisting the police in tracking down his son.

The variety of charges the men face include aggravated kidnapping and possession of a controlled substance.

The victims managed to get free and escape.

The father and son had been using methamphetamine heavily over several days and falsely believed the woman had reported them to authorities, police said. One grabbed a baseball bat and hit the son with it.

Wyoming Highway Patrol, Green River Police Department, Rock Springs Police Department and the Utah Department of Public Safety have joined together to search for DJ Harrison, Fox 13 Salt Lake City reported Saturday. The woman was beaten with a baseball bat. DJ was a regular visitor at their home, he would have dinner there, pick up the girls from school – so, it was a close family-friend relationship, and so, the mother and the girls going to that BBQ was not anything unusual. The teens had known him for several years.

The elder Harrison is a registered sex offender.

“The accusation that DJ had made against the mother was that she had ratted them out in someway”. Police, however, believe the barbecue was a ruse to get the women into the basement of the house where the men had zip-ties and Duct Tape laid out, awaiting their arrival.
