Fearing Donald Trump, some Democrats up pressure on Sanders to exit
This is despite the horrendous barbs the two threw at one another when Rubio was still campaigning for the nomination.

The state’s Democratic presidential primary has heightened meaning and candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are doing their best to woo New Jersey voters. She soundly defeated Barack Obama their 2008 primary contest in the state, and limited polling shows Clinton with a double-digit lead ahead of Tuesday’s contest.
At the county conventions in April, Sanders supporters were able to whittle Clinton’s lead temporarily to 18 -17, a figure buoyed by Sanders supporters showing up in force at the county conventions.
Democratic leaders – Sanders and Clinton supporters alike – have called for unity, saying it’s necessary to defeat Trump and win in November.
“I think what’s going to happen is the more people realize it’s a choice between Trump and Clinton, it’s really not going to be a hard choice for most people”, Ehrenberg said. They also questioned a credentials committee’s disqualification of 58 would-be Sanders delegates.
So, not much should be extrapolated from many West Virginia Democrats, who sound averse to Clinton. In this week’s poll fewer than half think that. “Sanders, being in the race and creating that kind of excitement helps with Democratic turnout so that you get congressional districts where the [No.] 1 and 2 finishers are both Democrats and that will help the party in the long run”, Briggs said.
That makes an endorsement of Clinton from Sanders a tough path to walk.
Just last week, one of the earliest and most frequent critics of Trump, Kentucky Sen.
Republican strategist Sara Fagen, who has not backed Mr. Trump, says Mrs. Clinton “doesn’t have a movement”. However, now that Donald Trump has secured the Republican nomination, from a mathematical point of view, they’re questioning Bernie Sanders’ decision to keep campaigning.
“Many of these will be disappointed when Clinton is awarded the nomination after Sanders won so many caucuses and primaries and has energized the base”, Campbell said. Sanders, after seeing her reserve airtime, followed behind with $126,000 in ads, according to advertising tracker Kantar Media’s CMAG.
But the Clinton supporters are beginning to worry.
The former secretary of state is also trying to move toward an anticipated general election race, against Trump. Party officials say 1,695 Clinton-supporting delegates and 1,662 Sanders-supporting delegates showed up to the event. Between 12 and 14 percent of voters in those states said they hadn’t heard enough about Sanders to make an assessment.
“They are an important means of expressions that may ultimately allow the Democratic Party to rally behind Clinton as nominee because the voters have been given the opportunity to fully vent their frustrations, even in a losing cause”, he added.
