Nintendo to release first anime movie by 2021
Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima said that the game maker is considering the possibility of moving into filmmaking, Japanese newspaper Asahi reports, but it’s not yet decided if this will be a theater or DVD/Blu-Ray type of deal.

It was back in February when Nintendo’s designer Shigeru Miyamoto talked about how the company was looking to develop movies since it had always been a part of the entertainment industry.
It will be eager to avoid a repeat of the “Super Mario Bros” movie that came out in 1993, though.
Nintendo has revealed its intentions to get into the movie business over the coming years.
Nintendo has not divulged any details of its first film project, but it will likely be a 3-D animated movie featuring such popular video game protagonists as Mario from the Super Mario franchise and Link from the Legend of Zelda series. Nintendo characters did appear in Wreck-It Ralph, which went down pretty well, but also in Pixels, which, uh, didn’t. He says that the video game giant wants to attain global success within five years with its fresh push into video production. Starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, the live-action film was widely considered a dud.
But Kimishima told the Asahi that this time, Nintendo would like to do things itself as much as possible, rather than just licensing out its content, and said it was unlikely to be live-action.

In an effort to attract more mobile users, Nintendo also announced its first game title for smartphones which was called Miitomo and it released last month.
