The state average was $2.25 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc.
The national average increased 1 cent from the previous week and has remained above $2 a gallon for 53 consecutive days.
Drivers in California continue to pay the nation’s highest averages for retail gasoline, but AAA officials say gas prices could remain relatively steady even as more travelers are expected to opt for a road trip this summer.
Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, prices yesterday were 50.1 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 8.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
Tucson- $1.98/g, flat from last week’s $1.98/g. Retail gasoline prices nationwide dropped 2 cents to an average $2.20 per gallon.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in the Lone Star State, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $2.07 per gallon while drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $1.89 per gallon. “While pockets of significant gas price hikes were prevalent, especially in regions such as the Pacific Northwest and Rockies, 22 states actually had prices decrease”. Historically gasoline demand increases leading into the summer driving season, and this year so far is no different.
