“I said, ‘Stop April fooling me!’ And she said, ‘It’s May!’ She said it’s true we won the Powerball and I haven’t slept since then”. “No birthdays. No anniversaries”.

“We expect that the victor or winners will take their time before claiming the prize, and consult with the appropriate professionals who can assist them in navigating these unchartered waters”, she said. “It was a big shock”. Shin tells reporters that she believes the victor was one of her regular customers. They said their friends and employers don’t even know the news yet – but they expect to hear from them soon.

“Hello, my name is Valerie Arthur and I’m guessing all of you wishes you were me right now”, she said.

“Now, she has her own funding… and can help young women at risk”.

Their brother, Steven, of Trenton, said he planned to take care of his children. “She has been struggling for funding and now she can do that with her own funding”, Arthur said.

She said that another of her sisters, Ms Katherine Nicole Nunnally of Newark, New Jersey, has for 15 years been leading a programme to mentor young women and will now have the money to fully underwrite it.

Arthur posted on her Facebook page: “Friday the 13th will never be the same”.

Arthur explained that the family felt it was important to educate themselves about how to handle their new winnings, so they’ve hired a team of lawyers and advisers.
