Shocking footage shows lifeguard attacked ‘after asking passerby to stop
A lifeguard was attacked by several people on the Venice Pier Thursday afternoon in a violent altercation caught on camera.

As he lands on the ground, he is set upon by the group who are shown punching, kicking and slamming the man into railings. The trio kicked and punched the man as bystanders tried to intervene. ktla A Los Angeles lifeguard was viciously assaulted after asking a beachgoer to stop smoking, a bystander’s video shows.
‘He sexually harassed me, ‘ the woman is heard saying before the parties split up. They have not released his name because of the police investigation.
‘I’m suing you, ‘ the woman says as she goes back towards the unconscious man.
Officials said they believe the lifeguard was defending himself. He was taken to the hospital and released after being treated for minor injuries. One of the lifeguard’s alleged attackers was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment, police said.
Other lifeguards come to aid, and during a brief calm the original lifeguard in the fight explains that a cigarette was flicked into his tower, setting off the confrontation. Two of the three suspects posted bond Friday, but their identities were not immediately available. The three people seen fighting the lifeguard were arrested on suspicion of felony assault, according to KTLA.
LAPD lieutenant Daniel Gonzalez told NBC Los Angeles that the suspects were believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the incident.
That man was unconscious on the boardwalk when police arrived.

One of the men sustained minor injuries and was transported by the Fire Department handcuffed to the gurney.
