Fox’s 2016-17 lineup includes 2 new fall dramas and a comedy
Like NBC, Fox will only launch a few new shows in the fall, saving much of its fresh content for after the new year including “24: Legacy”, which will debut after the network’s coverage of the Super Bowl in February.

More than ever, the big broadcast networks are playing it safe with established franchises, and Fox is not immune to TV’s remake fever: The network will add two fall dramas – Lethal Weapon, a remake of the 1980s film franchise – and The Exorcist, based on the 1973 horror film.
“Lethal Weapon”, which will air on Wednesday nights prior to Fox’s most popular show, “Empire”, stars Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans, Sr.as the crime-fighting duo Riggs and Murtaugh.
Mondays feature Gotham and Lucifer.
“Empire”, “Rosewood”, “The New Girl”, “Scream Queens” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” are all returning.
Hell’s Kitchen moves ahead an hour to kick off Fridays, followed by The Exorcist, which follows two priests who are tasked with helping a family cope with a case of demonic possession (Geena Davis plays the matriarch).
In addition, Lee Daniels, the creator of the Fox music drama hit “Empire”, will have a new show premiering next year called “Star” about a rising girl band.
– “The Mick” is a sitcom starring Kaitlin Olson as Mackenzie “Mickey” Murphy, a hustler who finds herself in charge of her sister’s kids after their wealthy parents flee criminal charges.
From left, actors Amaury Nolasco, Sarah Wayne Callies, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell from the show “Prison Break” arrives at the Fox Upfront after party at Wollman Rink in Central Park on Thursday, May 15, 2008, in NY.
The network also said it wants to do another run of “The X-Files” for the 2017-18 season.
Fox’s announcement jumped the gun on next week’s annual new-season presentations to advertisers in New York City.
