David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are “on board” for more X-Files

It’s official! Fox and Chris Carter are going to make another season of The X-Files. This includes the revival of The X-Files, which hit the schedule at midseason this year.

Walden said: “I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show”. He added that they were “hoping in the next few months” to have something in place.

Walden’s fellow chairman and CEO, Gary Newman, says talks with Carter, Anderson and Duchovny have gone past the initial “hey, we should do more” stage, but an announcement of the show’s return isn’t imminent.

Since Carter is unlikely to step aside, one can assume that future seasons will boast further episodes written and directed by the series’ mastermind, and that said seasons will consequently suffer from more stinkers like season opener “My Struggle” and season closer “My Struggle II”, both of which were widely (if not universally) bemoaned by both critics and fans. This is certainly good news.

It seems everyone is back on board for more episodes of The X-Files – but are you? Those talks led to positivity from those involved with the shows, but since they are all very busy people, the Fox series has been put on the back burner for now. The X-Filesdid a lot for Fox this winter. So it looks like you could be waiting until fall 2017 for new episodes, or even midseason 2018 if it premieres in the same slot as it did earlier this year.

The series, which will star Damon Wayans Sr., has high expectations from the CEOs and it’ll probably benefit from the Empire lead-out.

So, yeah, Fox definitely has room for new episodes, but it would be better for everyone if they took their time to build a better outline for what comes next. It should be an interesting lineup to keep an eye on.
