John terry’s future still unclear but chelsea captain wants to stay

The former England captain missed Chelsea’s last two games of the season through suspension, but he was present at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as fans chanted “John Terry, we want you to stay!” and held up signs showing “26”, his squad number. It was a good atmosphere and I want to say thank you to our fans and the Chelsea fans.

John Terry had already intimated to friends and family that he will be playing his last match for the club against Leicester City this weekend, but having met with Chelsea officials this week, he’s been offered a one year deal to remain at the club.

“It was good but I was not so happy, and maybe when I changed and we went back to 4-4-2 we played immediately better, we pressed high and it was much better for us”.

“I’ve said for a very long time I want to be here for the rest of my career”.

Ranieri said: “After we have a break”.

Once the most assured defender in the league, Terry is not the man he once was and the club know it.

“Chelsea is my life, as it is yours”. We have a few days and we’ll be speaking to the club.

The 69-year-old joked he knows it would be bad news for the club if he gets another call in December, but fully expects Chelsea to return to the upper echelons of the Premier League next season.

While the home fans said hello again to Ranieri, they also bade farewell to Hiddink, who gives way to Italy manager Antonio Conte, and implored Terry not to end his time at the club on 703 appearances.

“On a personal note I’d like to thank everyone”, he said.

Terry is considering whether to accept the club’s offer of an extra 12 months, but are yet to comment on the exact nature of the role that has been offered. I am sure all the big teams will go back.

Terry addressed the crowd following Chelsea’s draw with Leicester.

Following a sending off, Terry is suspended for the final game of the Premier League season against champion Leicester on Sunday. “Terry will be highly regarded in that dressing room, and there will be players in there thinking: ‘when it’s my time they might deal with me in the exact same way”.

“He’s still physically fit and mentally very fit, so he can contribute a lot wherever he wants to play”.
