In fact, even Apple has now confirmed that it is working on a patch to iTunes to fix the issue, iMore reported. After refusing to acknowledge the bug for a while, Apple is forced to acknowledge that the iTunes app has indeed been infected and an update will be released to counter this problem. Overall, the iTunes 12.4 gives the program a much needed nip and tuck though it’s not likely to win over any new fans. iTunes has gotten a reputation for being a bloated, slow app over the years, which isn’t surprising as it’s responsible for managing your music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and apps. While Apple said they couldn’t replicate the iTunes music library deleting bug in-house, they did promise various patches to help safeguard against this via an imminent update. Dialogs with buttons saying “Remove” and “Delete”, for example, where one keeps your locally saved songs and the other gets rid of them, aren’t easy to understand and are frustration when users learn the hard way they just wiped away songs they meant to keep.
Also introduced with the 12.4 update are revamped menus for the toolbar, with more customization now possible via the View menu.
In the meantime, we recommend always keeping your music backed up.
The new version is available via the Mac App Store or Apple’s website. It is probably better not to use Apple Music until Jobs’ Mob works out what is going on and fixes it.
