Lafitte’s remark apparently compares Allen to director Roman Polanski, who has been living and working in exile in Europe since 1978, when he fled the United States after being charged with raping a minor.

“I think any jokes about rape, homophobia or Hitler is not a joke”, Lively said on Thursday when asked about the incident by a Variety reporter.

Stewart was joined by co-star Blake Lively and Jesse Eisenberg. “It’s time to ask some hard questions”.
