YouTube’s Android app has had full Cardboard support since November, but iPhone users have been sorely out of luck.

To access the new feature, make sure you’re running YouTube version 11.18 or later, then play any video on YouTube and tap the screen to bring up the menu options above.

You will need a Google Cardboard viewer to experience the new VR feature, however, although you can pick one up for ~. The change list includes support for VR headset Google Cardboard on YouTube videos streamed over iOS.

To watch VR videos using Cardboard, simply select the Cardboard icon, which sits next to the video’s progress bar.

Adding Cardboard to iOS’ version of YouTube is another milestone for Google in that it introduces the insane world of virtual reality to a wide audience.

If you are watching an ordinary YouTube video the Cardboard mode experience will provide you with the feeling of sitting in a movie theater. This move extends VR functionality to iOS just days before Google’s big yearly developer conference. Alternatively, YouTube has a 360° Video’s Channel, where you will be able to find a wide variety of 360° Videos and VR Videos covering a range of topics.
