For the fifth week in a row, Disney has led the box office starting with “The Jungle Book”, which was released mid-April. It is a far cry from the previous Garry Marshall holiday films…and it pales in comparison to megahit Zootopia, which pulled in an estimated $2.8 million in its eleventh week for a worldwide total of $969.8 million.

Civil War” dropped 59 percent in its second weekend in theaters, in line with the second weekend showings of “Avengers: “Age of Ultron” and “Iron Man 3”.

Foster and her leading lady Julia Roberts fought back tears when the financial thriller, which also features George Clooney and Jack O’Connell, was given a four minute standing ovation following its Cannes premiere on Wednesday (12May16). Yet its second weekend would be judged more by historical standards, and on that ranking, its estimated $72.5 million performance held up well. It finished second ahead of “Money Monster”, which debuted at $15 million.
And while live-action DC movies have been around as long as Marvel-based films, they aren’t enjoying the same box office success. Of course, the total is higher internationally due in larger part to the film releasing in overseas markets a week earlier than it did in North America. It will most assuredly vault past $1 billion in earnings in the upcoming week joining both Avengers pics and the third Iron Man as the only films in the MCU to surpass a billion globally. The Darkness with Kevin Bacon came in fourth with $5.2 million – slightly over expectations but hardly a triumph; it’s been dogged by bad reviews. What seemed like a touch and go till the beginning of the weekend is now a certain possibility as the Hollywood film is set to go past the Bang Bang total of 181 crore. We got to see Steve Rogers before he ever became Captain America, then we saw how he felt after being Captain America, and it looks like now we see him abandon the title of Captain America.

The film, which has been a critical hit as well as a commercial smash, makes it two weeks at the top of the USA box office and faced no challenge from the films below it.
