Telegram now lets users edit messages after they’ve been sent

“Farewell to typos! Starting today, you can edit the text of your messages after sending them. This works across all Telegram chats, including groups and one-on-one conversations”, Telegram said. This means that you have 48 hours to edit a message you sent, so there’s plenty of time for that should you change your mind on something you posted.

Telegram has launched a new update on its messaging app to allow its users to edit messages after they have been sent. BlackBerry Messenger was perhaps one of the earliest to offer up a similar service.

Of course, all these new features don’t mean much if your friends use WhatsApp (which has an all new design on Windows) or Messenger or even just plain old SMS, but for Telegram users, the app keeps on getting better. Tap and hold on the message that you want to correct and then press edit, and of course, now edit to your heart’s content. Your message will however have a small edited label on it, and so people might speculate why and what you edited.

And if it continues to add useful new features like this one, that number is only going to go up.

Telegram claims to have 100 million active monthly users, compared to Whatsapp’s 1 billion, although it does say it is adding around 350,000 new users each month. You’ll get a notification about whatever they typed, even if you’ve unsubscribed to notifications for that group.

Search has also been improved so that it now includes a People list that showcases the most recent people you’ve communicated with.
