Man sought in disappearance of Washington couple arrested

Investigators hiked to where the missing couple’s Land Rover and Jeep were found in a wooded area near Oso, Washington.

Tony Reed has been arrested dozens of times and was under state supervision twice – from 1989 to 1991 on drug charges and from 1994 to 2003 for three misdemeanours.

Monique Patenaude, 46, and husband Patrick Shunn, 45, were reported missing by neighbours on 12 April.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of John Reed or with information about the investigation into the murder of Shunn and Patenaude is asked to call 911 or the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tipline at 425-388-3845.

Ireton said it is unknown just yet when Tony will be transferred to Snohomish County.

Shunn and Patenaude owned a large lot near the Stillaguamish River.

April 18 – One of the vehicles driven by the Reed brothers is located in Phoenix.

John Reed remains on the run, officials said.

Detectives concluded the couple had been killed after discovering the couple’s vehicles and searching John Reed’s home.

In April, detectives traveled to Ellensburg and the home of the Reeds’ parents. “We have been concerned about law enforcement searching fo him”, she said.

Ireton said Monday night that authorities continue to search for the missing couple. The Volkswagen was found, along with two people who said they gave the suspects $500 cash and the keys to a 2002 gold Acura.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office also recovered surveillance video “tying the Reed brothers to the disposal of Shunn’s and Patenaude’s vehicles”, according to NBC affiliate KING 5.
