James Carville: Hillary Needs Bernie, Not the Other Way Around

Sweeping promises versus targeted proposals. They are outsider candidates riding a wave of populist excitement, while she is viewed as a traditional, establishment choice.

In a speech at a brewery in southeastern OH last week, Clinton said coal is still a part of the nation’s energy supply, but even big coal-consuming nations like China are starting to burn less.

Trump’s large crowds were good for more than his ego.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -Christmas came early for Hillary Clinton Tuesday after West Virginia voters filled her stocking with lumps of coal. Counting superdelegates, Sanders is mathematically blocked from capturing the Democratic nomination on the first ballot in July unless some of the superdelegates switch allegiance from Clinton to Sanders. Only Sanders, who has been only lightly criticized in recent months by either Clinton or Trump, remains unscathed by the continuing campaign: just about half of all adults view him favorably. “She has a base of people that will show up, but they’re not overly energized”.

Reni Erdos, a Democratic National Committee member and Sanders supporter, said it’s exciting that New Jersey’s late vote is getting attention, but she thinks California’s primary the same day will get most of the spotlight.

Analysts say the victory of Sanders, a U.S. senator, will add yet more fuel to his argument that he should remain in the race despite trailing Mrs.

Crowd counts are just one measure of excitement.

Republicans, who now control 31 governor’s offices and a record two-thirds of state legislative chambers, downplay Trump’s impact at the state level and say that voters who don’t back the billionaire will still vote for other Republicans.

Among democratic voters, Clinton leads Trump 78 percent to 9 percent, while Trump leads among GOP voters 78 percent to 7 percent.

“My coalition of voters is wonderful”, Trump said. But, you know what?

“At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, the director of security for the Paris Las Vegas Hotel informed the state party and representatives from both presidential campaigns that the property could no longer provide the necessary security under conditions made unruly and unpredictable”.

Clinton and Sanders will compete in another primary contest on May 17. Obama held huge rallies and captured much of the popular imagination and enthusiasm. Only 38 percent had a favorable view of Clinton, and 22 percent said they had a favorable view of Trump.

Now, take public polls with a grain of salt, but it’s clear that this election is ACTUALLY going to be tight – which means that if we start to get complacent, we’re going to be looking at a Trump presidency. But Democrats aren’t united yet either.
