Since its release back on 29 July 2015, we have received periodic momentum updates from Microsoft and with last weeks updated number of active users let’s take a look and see how that effort is progressing. These extensions are available on the Windows Store.

Microsoft will stop prompting users to upgrade to its Windows 10 operating system when its offer to migrate for free expires on July 29 U.S. time. “After July 29th, you’ll have the capacity to keep on getting Windows 10 on another gadget, or buy a full form of Windows 10 Home for $119”, said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate VP of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group.

The acquisition is reportedly meant to boost Redmond’s enterprise IoT offerings.

Microsoft has been one of the biggest names in the world of technology for quite a while now.

There were a few Windows Store updates this week. Microsoft has been testing a version of the browser with the said support in March, Engadget reported. For those who don’t upgrade, Microsoft has reiterated that it will continue to provide security patches for Windows Vista until April 11, 2017; Windows 7 until January 14, 2020; and Windows 8 until January 10, 2023.

With this development, Windows 10 has become one of the largest online services in less than a year. The store now offers paid apps, in addition to free ones.

For now, customers can buy apps from the store in volume using credit cards. Microsoft estimates small to medium-sized businesses spend about $70 billion each year on desktop software, apps, and utilities.

Microsoft also sparked controversy with a change to Windows 10 Pro that removes the ability for IT admins to block user access to the Windows Store and thus prevent them from installing apps.
