His embrace of fundraising marks a turnabout from Trump’s posture throughout the primary contest, in which he maintained he was self-funding his bid.

“Lew Eisenberg is going to do an outstanding job leading this effort”, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement. He said he would also make the case that Hillary Clinton is “crooked” and corrupt, citing everything from her cattle futures trading in the 1970s to the current FBI investigation of her misuse of a personal email server to convey classified information during her four years as secretary of state.

Campaigns use the information in all sorts of ways, from deciding where to send a candidate to making sure supporters cast a ballot.

This week, ABC News noted that Trump had claimed a golf course he owned was worth $50 million in a candidate disclosure form, but his attorneys claimed it was worth only $1.35 million for local property tax purposes, a massive gap that would save him large amounts.

On a campaign swing through Puerto Rico Tuesday, the former president was asked by a reporter whether he had any response to Trump’s latest attack on Twitter – alluding to his past infidelities and charging that he was the “worst abuser” of women in US political history.

Dean agrees. “I’m going to support our party’s endorsed candidate, but Trump needs to reach out and meet people where they are and that’s a lot of hard work”, he said.

Drawing on the NY billionaire’s appeal among working class white voters in particular, the campaign is charting an early path to the White House that runs through states that haven’t supported a Republican in a presidential election in decades. “That’s a known fact”. With the “born-again Christian” filter applied for the May 13 Reuters polling, Trump was favored by 43 percent of 422 respondents while Clinton registered 30.8 percent. “It’s not about women or men – he did the same thing to Marco (Rubio), he did the same thing to Jeb (Bush)”, he said in response to a question. “This is Donald Trump’s party”. He predicted it would be able to match what “Obama was able to do in 2008”.

One such group, Priorities USA, announced Monday it plans to spend additional millions of dollars in ad buys ahead of the next big multi-state primary day on June 7. One of these, dubbed Trump Victory, will raise money for the RNC, the Trump campaign and 11 state Republican parties. Then again, he said, “We’ve all been wrong about Trump for pretty much this entire campaign”.
