A bomb threat was called in sometime between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., which prompted Ford to send the day shift home for the remainder of their hours.

More than 1,000 employees work at the facility, located near 32 Mile Road and the M-53 freeway.

“The Ford Romeo Engine Plant was reopened at 12:47 p.m. after law enforcement investigated and cleared the site, ” the auto company announced in a statement. The plant produces engines for several Ford vehicles. According to the Detroit News, police with bomb-sniffing dogs are searching the building, which covers over 2 million square feet.

At this time, Moran said that there hadn’t yet been an update from law enforcement whether anything had been found in their search.
