MCD Election Results 2016: MCD Bypolls Result For All 13 Wards
By-elections to the 13 seats were held on May 15 and the results were declared by the state election commission on Tuesday. It said it has started planning for a “far more grand” performance in the civic body polls next year.

MCD bypoll results have brought some good news for Congress party which is passing through one of the worst phases of its history.
Interestingly, of the 13 councillors who had vacated their seats, eight have an AAP connect. Thanks Delhi for reaffirming faith. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was trifurcated in 2012.
Congress too interpreted the outcome in its favour with Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken saying that hard work of party workers had paid off.
The saffron party fielded its former MLA Dr Mahender Nagpal from Wazirpur. The BJP could retain only two wards, and won one.
“Rahul ji visited/supported striking SafaiKaramcharis, agitating Street Vendors/Slum Dwellers- They’ve responded now!”, Maken said in a series of tweets.
However, AAP failed to replicate its success of assembly elections.
The Delhi High Court paved the way for the by-polls in 13 wards after the state government unsuccessfully argued to advance the civic polls scheduled to be held in 2017.
The results upset the BJP, which controls all three civic bodies.
AAP’s Abhishek Bidhuri won the Tekhand seat by 1,555 votes, Anil Malik won the Nanakpura seat by 552 votes and Mohammadd Sadiq emerged victorious in Ballimaran ward number 86 won by 2,066 votes respectively. So why are the two parties upbeat even after getting less seats than the AAP?
The big setback for BJP came from Khichdipur, where the party’s heavyweight, Vinod Binny, lost to Congress’ Anand Kumar.

“The results are the beginning of the end of the politics of arrogance, anarchy and lies being practiced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi exposed meticulously by the BJP over a year”, said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay.
