ABC Cancels Marvel Show; Fans Trying to Save Peggy For Netflix

While Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been enjoying some success on the cable network, Marvel’s Agent Carter didn’t fare as well in its second season. To complicate matters, Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell was signed to headline a new ABC legal drama, Conviction a few months ago. Variety reports that the network has decided not to pick up the series, which would have starred Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood as Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter, for the fall season. So even though this petition isn’t a guarantee for “rebirth”, Agent Carter does stand a better chance than most shows, especially given Marvel’s successful partnership with Netflix. Was it just a clever way of tying together the two shows, or was ABC trying to give fans some closure because they have already come to the conclusion that Agent Carter is cancelled and there will not be a third season?

Will Marvel’s Agent Carter find a new home elsewhere?

But even with the cancellation, this doesn’t meant that viewers will no longer see lead actress Hayley Atwell on television. “Her series has been canceled, but we can bring her to NETFLIX!” It was poor ratings that sunk the show in the end, losing 54% of its viewership between the first and second season, followed by nearly a million more dropping off the wagon by the time the Season 2 finale aired. Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewki of Agents of SHIELD wrote the script for Most Wanted. “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” are the only ones that have been released so far, but “Luke Cage”, “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders” are expected to debut on the streaming service in the future.

Are you sad to see Peggy Carter go after “Agent Carter” season 2 on ABC? “Peggy Carter is such an amzing [sic] character, and with lines such as “I know my own worth, ‘ she’s also an exemplary role-model”.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” isn’t dead and buried just yet – at least, not if fans can help it. Of course, this isn’t the first time fans have hoped Netflix would save a superhero show.
