Voter registration deadline for June 7 primary election is Monday

Of the 929,832 early ballots issued, 28,946 have been returned. Voters may also pick up registration forms at the Registrar of Voters Office, 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa. They use this data to dispatch volunteers who target absentee voters in those areas who have not yet mailed in their ballots.

The map on this page shows early voting return rates by precinct. A dozen precincts – mostly around UCSD – had yet to return a single ballot. Otherwise, you will receive a nonpartisan ballot without presidential candidates. For voters’ convenience, the Registrar of Voters Office has a 24/7 drive-up window. (Example: Opposing party ballot).

Vu suspects that trend will continue with this election. I believe this is where they get scanned for mailing.

Lowest turnout as of this weekend was in Columbia County, where just 25 percent of eligible voters had voted.

“I was following up with our printer to verify that our vote-by-mail ballots were mailed yesterday”, Assistant Clerk-Recorder Sandy Sjoberg wrote in an email Friday.

Second, there’s a contested presidential primary on the Democratic side and high levels of voter excitement in races up and down the ballot. That means no changes in party affiliation for registered voters between June 1 and August 31. You will be able to choose one of these three ballots via mail if you are a vote-by-mail voter or at the polling place if you vote on Election Day.

Primary Elections are held to select candidates to go on to the November 8 Presidential General Election Ballot.
