Didier Drogba said he is looking forward to the “beautiful challenge” of finishing his career in Major League Soccer after being unveiled before hundreds of Montreal Impact fans here yesterday.

The official MLS website dispatched Olivier Tremblay to document Drogba’s big welcome but the ensuing din was so loud that it rendered all of his tapes useless. Chicago had previously filed a discovery claim on Drogba, and traded his rights to the Affect for allocation funds.
Montreal’s marquee signing took his first steps onto Canadian soil today, down a spiral staircase in the worldwide arrivals area at Trudeau, where he was greeted by a throng that would make the Biebs jealous.

Drogba added he had sought a move to the MLS because he wanted to play regularly after a farewell season at Chelsea last year where he was used mostly as a squad player.
