EgyptAir flight with 66 on board goes missing
A major search and rescue operation has been launched by Egyptian and Greek authorities to find the remains of the aircraft, with reports of a flash in the sky over the Mediterranean.

The airliner has hosted the passengers’ families near to Cairo Airport and has provided doctors, translators and all the necessary services to the passengers’ family members during their stay at Cairo Airport.
Egyptair flight MS804 disappeared in the early hours of this morning carrying at least 66 people – including one Brit.
The airline’s media center said it will provide more information as it becomes available.
A similar Airbus plane operated by Metrojet was brought down in Egyptian airspace in October killing all 224 people on board.
In March, an EgyptAir flight was hijacked and made to fly to Cyprus by a man who was later described as “psychologically unstable”.
A spokesperson for the airline said they believe the plane most likely crashed into the sea as it neared the last few hours of its flight time.
Egypt and Greece have launched maritime searches for the missing flight, the Egyptian army said.
The airline tweeted that the plane lost contact with radar at 2.45am Cairo time (1.45am BST).

In 1999, EgyptAir Flight 1990 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near the MA island of Nantucket, killing all 217 people aboard. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said that no theory can be ruled out regarding the flight’s disappearance.
The A320 aircraft has been in operation since 2003, EgyptAir said, adding: “Special teams have arrived for search and rescue from the Egyptian Armed forces and are still searching”.
The French government held an emergency meeting at 06:30 GMT to discuss the plane’s disappearance, the French President Francois Hollande’s office said.
The pilots: EgyptAir has said the aircraft pilot has 6275 of flying hours, including 2101 flying hours on Airbus 320, while the co-pilot has 2766 flying hours.

Ehab Mohy el-Deen, head of the Egyptian air navigation authority said: “They did not radio for help or lose altitude”.
