Leicester celebrate title triumph with victory parade

Speaking in Bangkok at the start of a two-day tour by most of the Leicester City team, Top expressed his “extreme happiness” with a squad that shocked the sporting world by running away with the English Premier League title.

Leicester City players and staff celebrate with the trophy after winning the English Premier League during an open top bus parade through Leicester city centre, England, Monday May 16, 2016.

Leicester fans gathered to listen to the thoughts of the likes of Jamie Vardy, Wes Morgan and Claudio Ranieri.

Manager Claudio Ranieri, struggling to be heard amid the cheering crowds, called the scenes “special” and thanked supporters, saying “all the city is here”.

This was the season that the underdogs ruled England; I’ll talk more about Leicester at the end as these other underdogs deserve credit.

“The team won but they played with heart, soul and the people understood this”.

It nearly seemed like the giants were happy just to settle for Champions League football – a fate yet to be confirmed as this article was written.

Leicester have become one of the best-supported teams in Thailand since the Srivaddhanaprabha family and King Power took over the club in 2010, building a strong fan-base among the country’s football-mad population.

Scores of Thai fans mobbed newly crowned English Premier League champions Leicester City as they landed in Bangkok on Wednesday morning for a tour to the homeland of their billionaire owner.

Top scorer Jamie Vardy was similarly delighted by the festivities and is relishing the prospect of Leicester measuring themselves against the elite in the Champions League.

Personally Vardy finished as second top-scorer in the top-flight, which included breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record of scoring in 11 consecutive games.

Leicester winger Marc Albrighton admitted the Foxes were blown away by their title parade as nearly a quarter of a million fans celebrated their Barclays Premier League victory.

The 56-year-old – who may or may not be fictitious – says he travelled to Leicester as soon as the Foxes were confirmed as league winners, and reckons he’s bedded over 20 women while pretending to be the Italian footballing supremo.

Ranieri said Leicester had their eye on several new players, but bringing in big-money signings would destroy the team ethos.
