Andretti’s Hunter-Reay leads pack at Indy 500 practice

After five races, the son of team owner Michael Andretti still has not qualified or finished in the top 10.

Andretti also noted that the team is also adjusting to the possible weather situation, where it was predicted that there would be 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday.

After Andretti, teammates Carlos Munoz and Ryan Hunter-Reay posted times of 228.945 and 228.033, respectively. The only Andretti driver to miss the top five was Townsend Bell, who was sixth at 226.724. The four-time series champ from Target Chip Ganassi was fifth at 226.835.

“I think we’re really going to see how things will shake-out in the next few days”. But the 48-year-old Colorado resident has struggled here lately.

“We moved things forward on the test plan, ” he said, noting the gloomy forecast.

Brabham completed the most laps of the session, turning 126 of the 33-car field’s grand total of 2779. I struggled there a little previous year because it was my oval racing debut, so whilst I’ll go back with a bit of a point to prove, I’ll also return with a lot more confidence and experience under my belt.
