Bryant, a Delray Beach native, was driving his vehicle, with 25-year-old friend Maurice Grover as a passenger, on Interstate 95 in Miami when he and Grover were shot.
Several police agencies in south Florida are working to find out who shot Bryant and the passenger.
Detective Lori Colombino said West Palm police’s investigation is now reclassified as a homicide.
When University of Alabama-Birmingham officials learned that he was still alive, a statement was released by Clark.
“Bryant, standing at 5’11”, 196 lbs., was a 4-star recruit coming out of American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, and originally committed to Notre Dame.
A member of Greg Bryant’s family confirmed Monday that the UAB running back was taken off life support at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. He was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center and remains in critical condition. “All the National Football League players that have come out of Delray, Greg Bryant’s name is right there”, a former teammate of Bryant’s said.
Bryant joined UAB this spring after spending the past season living in hotel rooms in Miami with friends while attending classes at ASA College and playing in only one game.
UAB redshirt junior RB Greg Bryant passed away after being shot in his vehicle on Saturday.
Grover sustained minor injuries, according to the Post. He started his career at Notre Dame but was declared academically ineligible and left the school.
Bryant is a former Notre Dame player.
