Why blame TSA for long airport lines when you can blame passengers?

Close to 500 passengers didn’t make it onto their flights in Chicago overnight Sunday and Monday because of security screening lines there.

“That’s the whole point, at least that’s what we thought was the point, of the TSA Pre-Check: to help eliminate long lines”, he said.

“As we head into Memorial Day weekend and a busy summer of travel, it is critical that the Senate unblock the bipartisan legislation that I’ve passed through the House so that we can make travel more efficient”. That has caused hours long delays at some airports across the country, USA Today reports.

“It has been a challenging spring with fliers waiting in lines that take more than 60 to 90 minutes to get through security”, said Sharon Pinkerton, vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs for the trade group. TSA spokesman Mark Howell says part of the problem is low staffing and the high number of passengers.

As with other carriers, American’s employees are affected by the ripple effects of the long TSA wait times. They say that would lead to fewer carry-on bags for TSA to screen.

“As we all know, it is a problem for TSA nationwide and we are feeling that here in Nashville as well”, said Shannon Sumrall, the spokesperson for Nashville International Airport.

A4A has created www.iHateTheWait.com as a crowd-sourcing tool allowing passengers easy access to social media platforms Twitter and Instagram where they can post photos of security lines and wait times to help their fellow travelers.

Airlines and TSA agree that lines would be shorter if more passengers paid for expedited screening.

Jeff Dashley missed his flight on Friday because of long lines at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
